Easter eggs
Romanian tradition: Easter eggs
The tradition of Easter eggs in Romania is different from that practiced in France. Indeed, in Romania 85% of the population is Orthodox so Easter is the most important holiday.
Incondeiate eggsThese eggs covered with rather complex designs have been a Romanian tradition since the 17th century. On these unique eggs in Romania, we use traditional folk motifs such as the ear, the sun, the leaf or the Easter cross.
Easter egg game
From Easter, a game is set up between the Romanians which consists of hitting the egg of his table neighbor while saying “Hristos a înviat” (Christ is risen) and the other must answer “Adevarat ca a inviat” (He really came back to life). Whoever ends up with his broken egg loses!
