Sandwich toast recipes and appetizer ideas based on Romanian products
We offer you some ideas for toasts and appetizers that will allow you to discover and introduce people to Romanian products with confidence, and in a very easy way.
We had the opportunity to test these recipes at events, or with partners, and they were a great success. The choice of products as well as the arrangement of the dishes count for a lot in the success of your toasts!
Mini burgers with hot paprika
Ingredients for approximately 50 toasts :
Preparation time: about 30 minutes
– 50 mini burgers (they can be found in supermarkets or in stores such as Metro and promo cash)
– 1 Salam de Sibiu (Sibiu Salami)
– 1 cheese Burduf
– 1 Mica Ilinca spicy paprika jam jar
– a few lettuce leaves (I used pre-washed sucrine lettuce)
Making the toasts
– The cheese should be spread in a thin layer on the bottom toast
– The slice of sausage is 1mm to 2mm thick maximum
– the lettuce leaf on the paprika jam also prevents it from being absorbed by the toast above.
Zacusca mini burgers
Ingredients for approximately 50 toasts:
Preparation time: about 30 minutes
- – 50 small burgers (you can find them in supermarkets or in stores like Metro and promo cash)
– 1 Salam de Sibiu (Sibiu Salami) - – 1 Burduf cheese
- – 1 jar of Mica Ilinca eggplant zacusca
- – 1 jar of roasted peppers
- – a few lettuce leaves (I used pre-washed sucrine lettuce)
Making the toasts
- – The cheese should be spread in a thin layer on the bottom toast
- – The slice of sausage is 1mm to 2mm thick maximum
- – the lettuce leaf on the zacusca also prevents it from being absorbed by the toast above, and thus maintains its consistency
– squeeze the roasted peppers well before using them
Note: you can also vary your sandwich toast by using a mushroom zacusca. We also used Zacusca from galbiori Raureni.

Panna cotta with jam
Ingredients for approximately 20 verrines of 50ml
Preparation time: about 30 minutes
Cooling time: 4h minimum
– 1L crème liquide entière (30% de matières grasse)
– 4 sheets of gelatin
– 100gr of powdered sugar
– 1 sachet of vanilla sugar (or a vanilla pod)
– jam among those recommended belows
Making desserts in verrines
- STEP 1
Soften the gelatin sheets in cold water. Put the cream, sugar and vanilla in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. - STEP 2
As soon as it begins to boil, remove the pan from the heat and add the drained gelatin. - STEP 3
Stir well and pour into cups. Leave to cool then place in the refrigerator for a few hours to set. - STEP 4
