F?g?ra? castle Romania, Strategic castle in Transilvania<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Center of one of the most large Transylvania\u2019s domain, that included 1632 62 villages, the F?g?ra?\u2018s fortress has been one of the most important princely and noble residence in the XVIth century and especially in the XVIIth century.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”30197″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The town is located halfway between Sibiu and Brasov.
\nThe pink brick fortress of XIVth century is the main attraction of this town.<\/p>\n

Wooden builded at the place of a XIth century\u2019s city, it was transformed in a reinforced castle in the XVIIth century, by G Bethen, Transylvania\u2019s prince.<\/p>\n

The F?g?ra?\u2019s transfer to the Austrian property, in 1696 and the fortress\u2019s transformation in garrison meant the beginning of a surprise deterioration in the 1726\u2019s inventory. Cause of military\u2019s purposes, F?g?ra?\u2019s castle and fortress lost bygone days\u2019s elegance anf greatness.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”30200″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]Between 1948-1960, the F?g?ra?\u2019s fortress has been transformed in prison for political prisoners, after 1960, it will be dilapidated, and important restauration work will take place, work that considered the restauration of the fortified castle\u2019s appearance of the 17th century\u2019s glory period.<\/p>\n

Big and impressive, the F?g?ra?\u2019s fortress is considered by Nicolae Iorga as one of the \u00ab country\u2019s pearl \u00bb waiting peacefully \u2018\u2018in recognition of the audacious past actions[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”30203″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]The F?g?ra?\u2019s fortress has been besieged many time \u2013 in 1530, 1540, 1541, 1559, 1601, twice in 1658, 1661, 1705, 1849 \u2013 without being conquered. A testimony dated of 1661, had brought that the Turkish, after having burned a part of the town, besieged the fortress \u00ab\u00a0that wouldn\u2019t obey\u00a0; it shelted many soldiers and inhabitants coming from the surrondings\u00a0\u00bb, and the invaders, left by Ali Pacha, withdrawed after 14 sieged\u2018s days.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”30206″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]A part of the fortified ensemble has been recently restored because of UNESCO\u2019s funds, and other projects are in process.
